Updike on "New Yorkers"

I saw a short piece in today's New York Times about Updike's apparent impatience with New York and those who consider themselves "True New Yorkers". According to Updike, a "True New Yorker" is "someone who came with a “secret belief that people living anywhere else had to be, in some sense, kidding.”

I couldn't agree more.
