WHERE POETRY COMES TO DIE

We saw St. Vincent last night. I really, really, REALLY liked her already but after seeing her live, I'm totally smitten. Her voice is beautiful in a psycho-mad kind of way and she is very spastic-charming. Plus, how could you not love a woman who is brave but also nonchalant enough to rock those super-short leather shorts?!

Today, as I am listening to Strange Mercy on repeat, ALL DAY LONG, it occurs to me to check why she calls herself St. Vincent. In an interview with the New York Times she says that her stage name was inspired by St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center, the hospital where Dylan Thomas spent his last hours.

It’s the place where poetry comes to die,” she said, joking. “That’s me.”
