Sofia Coppola on Lee Radziwill:
She once described a lunch with someone as, "Just truly a life-diminishing experience."
T Magazine has done a beautiful piece on Lee Radziwill: Jackie O's equally stylish and infinitely more rebellious (and well traveled) younger sister. Sofia Coppola interviews Radziwill about tagging along Truman Capote to cover a Stones tour for Rolling Stone magazine (tour buses, bunk beds, drug busts and all); getting punished as a child for trying to adopt an orphan, and getting nostalgic about her childhood in East Hampton, which would eventually result in the remarkable Grey Gardens documentary.
In addition to reading the interview, be sure to take a look at some of the extras included in the feature. I especially enjoyed Sofia Coppola's memories of her friendship with Radziwill. I don’t know anyone else who phrases things the way she does, Coppola says. She once described a lunch with someone as, “Just truly a life-diminishing experience.”
